Conversations around teams
Glip screen showing Martian as a choice. Glip is a modern messaging tool for business. According to the website. Glip can be described as instant messaging with productivity tools integrated. You will find the target teams by filling out the ‘industry dropdown list’ when you sign up. Martian is at the bottom, while web design and software development firms are at the top.
When you sign up, you must add at most one coworker. If you import your contacts from Google, you can only add people into your free account. You will need to purchase a subscription if you are working with someone who has hotmail addresses.
Log in to view the main Glip homescreen. This screen shows you a summary of your week, your tasks and your most recent files. The conversation stream is where most of your work is done with your team.
Make a project
Oh my. Within seconds of opening my screen, Kip notified me. Eleven times. In just two minutes.
Okay, let your online buddy help new users. Let me at least see the messages before another one.
After the onslaught, I was able create projects.
Glip doesn’t allow for you to create projects. Instead, you can create groups that work together on projects. By inviting more people or selecting the right people, you can create a team to work on your project. You can then create a conversation stream specific to your project. You can create tasks and assign them to people in your stream. You can also upload files or take notes.
To make it easier to use the calendar for important milestones and meetings, you can add events.
It sounds a little bit tinny, but it is not.
You can also view your work through the tasks view or calendar view if you are uncomfortable with the conversation stream. You can also view all files and notes. This allows you to view all interactions with your team. I love the calendar view. You can see all the activities for this week right from the tool.
Keep you in one spot
Glip’s main selling feature is its ability not to require multiple tools to manage your work. It syncs with Outlook, iCal, and GCal. You can email into and out of Glip if you work with people who don’t like it. It integrates with Dropbox, Google Drive, and JIRA. It also features a powerful search function, which scans all information and returns relevant results. This eliminates the possibility of data being lost.
Glip calendar viewIt’s lightweight, but has undergone some serious development. The management team is outstanding.
Let’s sum it all…
Glip is chatter management. Glip can help you keep your inbox clear of files, notes, or tasks. This is a great job. It’s intuitive and clever. I love the calendar view. However, I miss a Gantt charts.
This suggests that Glip may not suit me. Even though I am not the intended audience, this cost-effective improvement in instant message would be beneficial to many teams that struggle with email collaboration.
